Stop letting assumptions masquerade as facts.
AI can produce an impressive answer from shaky foundations.
One unverified assumption gets treated as true. Another conclusion gets built on top of it. Before long, you have a polished answer that looks convincing — but nobody stopped to ask what was actually known.
Known / Assumed / Unknown is a simple XCopp Fragment designed to create that checkpoint.
Give it a question, idea, decision, plan or situation and it helps separate the information into three clear states:
KNOWN — information supported by the context or evidence available.
ASSUMED — information being treated as likely or true without sufficient verification.
UNKNOWN — missing information that could affect the answer or decision.
What is an XCopp Fragment?
A Fragment is a small, focused digital tool designed to solve one specific problem quickly.
This isn’t a course, giant prompt library or complicated AI system.
It’s something you can download, understand and start using within minutes.
What can you use it for?
Use the Fragment before:
- making a decision;
- building a project plan;
- researching a subject;
- evaluating an idea;
- writing important content;
- trusting an AI-generated answer;
- acting when some of the information may be incomplete.
It is particularly useful when the answer sounds convincing but you’re not completely sure which parts are evidence and which parts are inference.
How it works
1. Download the Fragment.
2. Open the included Start Here / Quick Start guidance.
3. Copy the supplied instructions into a compatible conversational AI.
4. Give it the situation you want examined.
5. Review what comes back as Known, Assumed and Unknown.
You can then investigate the unknowns, challenge important assumptions or continue with a clearer picture of what the available information actually supports.
Example
Imagine you’re considering launching a new product.
You might believe:
“People will buy this because similar products already exist.”
The Fragment can help expose the difference between:
KNOWN: Comparable products exist.
ASSUMED: Your intended customers want your particular version.
UNKNOWN: Actual demand, acceptable price, conversion rate and why customers would choose your offer.
That’s a much stronger starting point for the next decision.
What you receive
Your download contains the customer-ready Known / Assumed / Unknown package, including the core tool and supporting instructions provided with the Fragment.
Everything is designed around using the tool, rather than requiring you to understand prompt engineering first.
Do I need to understand AI?
No specialist knowledge is required.
If you can upload a file or copy and paste text into a conversational AI chat, you can follow the included guidance.
The instructions explain what the tool is, what it’s for and how to start.
Does it work with every AI?
The portable core is designed for capable instruction-following conversational AI systems.
Different AI providers and models can interpret instructions differently and may have different capabilities, file support, memory and tools. Identical results across every AI service are therefore not guaranteed.
What this tool doesn’t do
Known / Assumed / Unknown does not magically verify every fact.
It helps expose the evidence state of the information being used.
If something requires current data, an authoritative source or specialist verification, that verification still needs to happen.
The goal is not artificial certainty.
The goal is knowing where certainty ends.
Start with a cleaner foundation.
Before you build the plan, trust the answer or make the decision, find out what is actually known.
